Welcome to Helping Paws Online!

Helping Paws is a non-profit, charitable organization, specializing in cats and dedicated to helping people rescue strays and ferals by getting them their necessary medical care and helping to maintain feral cat colonies in Connecticut. Because many of our foster homes have retired after eleven years, Helping Paws is primarily a source to help seniors, low income families and people who find strays and work with ferals to provide vouchers to spay or neuter the cat and immunize them against rabies and distemper. Helping Paws will also help place cats that need to be rehomed by courtesy listings on their website and advertising them in local papers.

While Helping Paws does have some cats and kittens in care, they are not taken from the general public but rather by request from some of the city and town shelters.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT: TO GIVE AID AND COMFORT WHENEVER POSSIBLE TO ABUSED, ABANDONED AND NEGLECTED ANIMALS WHEREVER NEEDED.

Helping Paws' president believes that education is the way to help homeless animals and writes a weekly Sunday column for the Norwich Bulletin, called Pet Talk. The columns range from informational to emotional topics. The columns from the last few years are included on this web site for your convenience and enjoyment.

Helping Paws is proud to announce that Clint and Rene Knapp have been named Humanitarians of the Year by The International Cat Association for the years 2004 and 2005. They are very honored to be recognized by an association who recognizes the importance of helping our forgotten felines.
